Q: When was SPUD Fish & Chips founded?
A: Founded in 1935 by brothers Jack and Frank Alger, SPUD Fish & Chips has served the same classic recipes for nearly 90 years. Today, our Juanita and Edmonds locations still hand-bread fresh seafood daily — and locals know it’s always The Spud, never Spuds.

Q: What types of fish do you serve?
A: We primarily serve wild caught Alaskan cod and halibut, sourced from local partners known for their sustainable fishing practices.

Q: Do you offer any other seafood?
A: Yes, we also serve fresh, hand-shucked oysters, prawns, calamari, and breaded clams. We fry them up in our original batter mix for a delicious, crispy treat.

Q: Are there vegetarian options available?
A: Yes, we offer fried mushrooms sourced from local farmers throughout Washington, fried zucchini on a limited basis, onion rings, Caesar salad and coleslaw.

Q: Is there outdoor dining options?
A: Yes, tables are outside for you to enjoy a view of the water.

Q: Why is sustainability important to SPUD?
A: Sustainability helps us maintain the highest quality of food while supporting the environment and local communities. We believe in responsible sourcing and minimizing waste.

Q: Is SPUD batter and breading gluten free?
A:It is not gluten free, but our Caesar salads (minus the homemade croutons), french fries, coleslaw, chowder and of course milkshakes are!

Q: Where can I find SPUD Fish & Chips?
A: SPUD Fish & Chips has locations at Juanita Beach in Kirkland, Edmonds across from the ferry landing, Alki Beach & Green Lake. Each location is individually, family-owned and operated. The answers above pertain to the Juanita, WA & Edmonds, WA locations only.

Q: How do I request a charitable donation from SPUD?

A: We love to help! Our main focus is supporting local schools. If you don’t hear back, we’ve likely reached our monthly quota. Thanks for understanding!
